Public Affairs

For over five years, I worked in Washington, D.C., first as an aide in the U.S. Senate and later in the Obama administration at Peace Corps Headquarters. These experiences not only familiarized me with the legislative process, but also granted me strong skills in project management, advocacy, issue management, and strategic communications. I have since used these as a consultant for several private companies, supporting projects at the federal, state, and municipal levels.

Public Affairs Consulting

Public Speaking: I have spoken to various groups on behalf of trade associations, companies, and other clients. I am comfortable speaking and presenting in front of groups, large and small.

Stakeholder Engagement: I have provided stakeholder mapping and strategic counsel for a Fortune 20 company preparing for a major product roll-out nationwide. My analysis provided strategies for engagement and for mitigating concerns about large corporate investments.

Writing: I have helped organize and prepare background materials for numerous community and economic development forums. I have also written hundreds of op-eds, media statements, and policy briefs. Here is an example of an editorial I wrote about ride-sharing apps.

U.S. Peace Corps

Office of the Director: As an appointee in the Obama administration, I planned over 15 trips for the director to promote the U.S. Peace Corps. These included trips around the world, such as this one to Malawi celebrating the launch of the Global Health Service Partnership program, a collaboration of the Peace Corps, the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), and the non-profit Seed Global Health.

Nicaragua: For 27 months, I worked and lived in Nicaragua, leading education projects in coordination with the Nicaraguan education ministry. In two years, I organized three camps with funding from USAID and U.S. Department of State, two regional conferences for public school teachers, and gave dozens of workshops and trainings to educators across the country.
